Thinking about giving church a try?
You’re not alone.
In a busy and often uncertain world, many people in Windsor find themselves wondering about faith again — even if church feels unfamiliar, distant, or complicated. This page exists for one simple reason: to offer a gentle invitation, without pressure.
St Matthew’s Anglican Church has stood in the heart of Windsor for generations. Not as a place for perfect people, but as a place where ordinary people can pause, reflect, and explore life’s bigger questions.
You are welcome here
If any of these sound like you, you will fit right in:
- You haven’t been to church in years (or ever)
- You’re curious, but unsure what you believe
- You’re tired, stretched, or just looking for something more
- You’re not looking to be pushed, judged, or singled out
At St Matthew’s, you are free to come, sit quietly, and simply observe.
What happens if I come?
We know walking into a church can feel daunting. Here’s what you can expect at St Matthew’s:
- You can sit wherever you like
- No one will make you stand up or speak
- You won’t be asked for money
- You don’t need to know when to sit or stand — just follow along or remain seated
- You are free to leave at any time
Some people participate. Others just listen. Both are completely fine.
What kind of church is St Matthew’s?
St Matthew’s is an Anglican church — which means our services are grounded, thoughtful, and shaped by centuries of Christian faith.
People often tell us they appreciate:
- A sense of calm and reverence
- Space for silence and reflection
- Teaching that connects faith with real life
- A welcoming mix of ages and backgrounds
We believe faith is not something to be rushed or forced, but something to be explored honestly.
If you’re carrying questions
You don’t need to have answers to attend church.
Doubt, uncertainty, and questions are not a problem here — they are often the starting point.
Many people at St Matthew’s began by simply showing up, listening, and taking time to think.
What to expect in 60 seconds
(If you’re short on time, this is the simple version.)
- The service lasts about an hour
- The building is old, beautiful, and peaceful
- There is music, Bible readings, prayers, and a short talk
- You can join in as much or as little as you like
- Many people just sit quietly and take it in
- No one will draw attention to you as a visitor
You don’t need to know what to do — and you won’t get it wrong.
